Triangular Bits.
Since 1932, when EVEREDE ® Tool Company introduced boring
bars with replaceable
triangular tool bits, the triangle shape has become standard in
hundreds of industrial plants
for roughing cuts through precision boring.
The EVEREDE ® triangle is the product of years
of research for the ideal boring tool. Compare this triangle shape
with square or round boring
tools (below) where the shaded area must be ground away first
for side clearance, then the
top ground to produce a side rake.
The EVEREDE ® triangle is brought to you
preground on the top and automatically
positioned in the bar to produce a ten degree
positive top rake constant throughout the
length of the tool bit.
The side clearance is ground, removing a
minimum of material in comparison to the
old-fashioned round or square tool bits.
Positive setting of the triangular tool bits without back-up
or side-creep is assured. The bit is
firmly wedged into the "V" groove of the boring bar
through the distribution of clamping
pressure over a large area of the tool bit, as compared to other
types of boring bars that apply
the clamping pressure directly to the bit with a set screw.
EVEREDE ® Boring Bars are made of the finest heat-treated
Alloy Steel and,when used with
replaceable resharpenable triangular tool bits in H,S.S. Tungsten
Carbide, present a modern
cutting tool that is hard to beat for economy, rigidity and precision.
Also EVEREDE ® Boring Bars are made standard with steel heads
and carbide shanks, or
can be made special from heavy metal (High Density Tungsten Alloy).
