The Inexpensive solution to OSHA
Anti-automatic restart protection,
without the high cost of magnetic motor starters
THIS IS A MANDATORY OSHA SAFETY REQUIREMENT
Made in U.S.A.

Operating characteristics:
With the Saf-Start-Plug® correctly installed on existing equipment, it will provide protection against unexpected start-up, motion, and motor burn-out in the following manner:
Voltage Drop or Power Interruption Protection- In the event equipment, while being operated (switch in the "ON" position), should stop due to loss or drop of electrical power due to POWER FAILURE from any cause, the Saf-Start-Plug® will automatically disconnect and shut

Saf-Start-Plug

off  power to the equipment, so that upon restoration of power, the equipment will not start up even though the power switch to the equipment is in the "ON" position. In order to restore power to the equipment, the equipment switch must be turned "OFF" first, and then the reset button on the Saf-Start-Plug® depressed. In the event the equipment is inadvertently unplugged and then plugged back into the power source while the equipment switch is in the "on" position, the equipment will not restart until the reset button on the Saf-Start-Plug® is depressed.

Scope of Application:
The Saf-Start-Plug® is intended for installation on equipment which operates on 120-volts A.C. at 15 amperes maximum, and which is connected to the source of electric power by means of a 3-wire flexible power cord.
Installation:
The Saf-Start-Plug® is installed on existing equipment by connecting it in-line with the flexible power cord and plug from the equipment's electric "ON-OFF" switch. The Saf-Start-Plug is then plugged into the power source (at the 120-volt outlet).

The following standards apply to machines driven by 120 volt motors:

OSHA
(U.S. Occupational Safety and Health
Administration 29 CFR #1910.213 (b) (3)*)
NFPA
(National Electric Code®, 1993 Edition #430-43**)
*"On applications where injury to the operator might result if motors were to restart after a power failure, provisions shall be made to prevent machines from automatically restarting upon restoration of power." "...A Motor that can restart automatically after shut-down shall not be installed if its automatic restarting can result in injury to persons."
**Electrical controls for all Motors, 1993.
