LAB-METAL IS THE DURABLE FILLER THAT HARDENS QUICKLY WHEN EXPOSED TO AIR It needs NO mixing and bonds permanently to most surfaces. Lab-metal is machinable once hardened and has been proven in unlimited applications. Lab-metal is about half the price of most epoxy compounds and has a long shelf life. Lab-metal is quality controlled and guaranteed ... and don't forget Hi-Temp Lab-Metal for high heat applications!
MSDS Material safety data sheets DESCRIPTION: Ready-to-use aluminum filled metal repair compound. Ideal for repairing, filling, and patching defects in all kinds of metal and non-metal products. Apply right from the can with a putty knife; hardens into metal for fast, durable repairs. Thinned with Lab-solvent, the liquid metal may be brushed or sprayed. ADVANTAGES: Saves time and money: less expensive and less time consuming compared to the two-part epoxies, as there is no mixing, measuring, or heat cure required. Eliminates waste - one can will last for many applications. Repairs with Lab-metal often eliminate the need to replace expensive parts, equipment, and machinery. APPLICATIONS AND USES: Repair and fill blow holes, surface defects, dents, rough or porous places on metal castings, over-bored holes, engine blocks, pipes, boilers, metal tanks and metal doors, gouges, cracks and rusted spots in metal surfaces. Seal seams, joints in sheet metal pieces, rivets and riveted seams on fuel and watertanks, leaks in radiators, pumps, and valves. Buildup worn metal surfaces, worn shafts, weldments. Industries using Lab-metal include: Welding, metal fabrication, casting, plant maintenance, automotive and transportation, equipment and machinery, marine, plumbing, bearing and transmission.
Color: Metal gray Adhesion: Excellent adhesion to clean, dry surfaces of metal, wood, hard plastic, and glass. No heat needed; hardens upon exposure to air. Lab-metal will not bond two parts together, requires air to dry. Hardness: 81 on Shore D scale Coefficient of Linear Expansion: 15 x 10-6 inch/inch per ° F Strength: Tensile: 650 lbs/sq. inch Compressive: Approx. 20,000 psi Water pressure: >50 psi Specific gravity: 1.95 at 75° F Weight: One cubic inch: 31.2 grams or 1.10 oz. Heat resistance: 40°F to 350° F Chemical resistance: Not affected by mild acids; gasoline; petroleum; petroleum solvents; oil; or L.P. gas. Alkalis will attack Lab-metal slowly, but only after extensive immersion. Combustibility: Dry and hard material will not support combustion. Conductivity: A non-conductor. For a platable repair, use Alvin's Conductive Repair System. Thermal conductivity:Est. 1-2 BTU per sq. ft., per hour, per°F. Drying time: A 1/16" application hardens in 1-2 hrs. A 1/8" application hardens in 3-4 hrs at ambient temperature. (Thinned, may be brushed or sprayed for a faster cure.) Shelf life: Two years in factory-sealed can. Store in a cool place. MIL-SPEC Material: Lab-metal meeting MIL-F-52252 (MR) is available. Mechanical properties: Can be milled, sawed, drilled, tapped, sanded, ground, filed. Sand to a smooth feather edge; Will not shrink chip, crack, or peel. Can be painted without lifting paint. Back to Top of Page
DESCRIPTION: Ready-to-use aluminum filled metal repair compound for extreme heat situations The one-part metal putty withstands temperatures as high as 1 000°F, once heat hardened. Applied directly from the can with a putty knife, no two-component mixing or measuring is necessary. Adheres permanently to many metals, and can be machined, ground, filed, and sanded APPLICATIONS AND USES: Hi-Temp Labmetal is recommended where original Labmetal may not withstand the extreme heat. Industries such as metalworking, welding, fabricating, heating, construction, die casting, mold refinishing, and sheet metal production and finishing use Hi-Temp Labmetal. Repairs foundry castings, core boxes, duct work, mufflers, exhaust systems, molds, wood and coal burning stoves, grills, engines, radiators, and industrial ovens.
