Installation

Fixed Tail-Length Lindapters

The nose rests on the flange, gripping it firmly as the bolt is tightened. Types A, AH, B and E can be used on parallel or sloping flanges up to 4°slope. In all cases the flat section of the nose must be in full contact with the flange. This is not necessary for the front part of the nose when applied to a parallel flange.

Note: It may be possible, by choosing a shorter tail-length to use Types A and B Lindapters on flanges sloping at 8°. For further details please contact Newman Tools Technical Sales.

The skirt touches the edge of the flange to ensure that the nose is correctly positioned. This also stops the Lindapter turning as the bolt is tightened.

The Tail must be supported by a location plate or similar, in order to form a reaction point which creates the clamping force in the nose. By using a combination of the available tail-lengths, packings or clipped washers, most flange thicknesses can be accommodated. See Tail-Length/Packing Combinations.

Note: Type BR or LR can be used on flanges over 4°.

Type C Lindapters

The Nose hooks over the edge of the flange and will fit a limited range of flange thicknesses.

The Rib under the nose can be removed for use on thicker flanges.

The Tail projection at the rear touches the bolt shank and forms a reaction point to the load applied on the nose.

Adjustable Tail-Length Lindapters

The Nose rests on the flange, gripping it firmly as the bolt is tightened. Types D1, D2 and D3 can be used on parallel or sloping flanges, up to 4° slope. The Type LR is suitable for use on tapered flanges above 4°.

The Skirt touches the edge of the flange to ensure that the nose is correctly positioned. This also stops the Lindapter turning as the bolt is tightened. (Not applicable on Type LR)

The Tail must be supported by a location plate or similar, in order to form a reaction point which creates the clamping force in the nose. By using a combination of the available tail-length range, and Long Packings, most flange thicknesses can be accommodated.

Note: It is important that when the LR is assembled on the bolt it is fitted correctly. The nose of the clip must sit on the flange of the section being secured. Also, the straight and not the tapered leg of the saddle should be in contact with the edge of the flange.

See tail-length / packing combinations.
