What it is

Basically a transformer: a laminated silicone steel core with a primary winding within the base.

When the bearing and removable bar are in place and the primary winding is energized, a very low voltage and high current is induced in the bearing races.

This is, in effect, a short-circuited secondary.

Quick, even heating of the bearing is the result.

Heating Bearings:

Always heat to temperature specified by the bearing manufacturer.

Use a pyrometer (such as the Mor.39658K which includes a good
surface probe) to measure the temperature accurately.

Use the largest bar that will pass through the I.D. of the bearing and
ensure that bar is fitted over pins in upright posts.

Position bearing in center of crossbar.

Do not allow bearing to touch upright posts when heating.

When the Mor.39658K Pyrometer shows proper temperature, turn off switch and install bearing.

RECO Induction Bearing Heaters may also be used to heat metal
sleeves, gears, sprockets, etc.

RECO Induction Bearing Heaters should not be used on metal floors,
platforms or benches.

If used adjacent to machines, steel columns, reinforcing bars or other metal objects, heating will be slower.

Make sure heater is turned off when not in use.

Do not operate (except for demagnetizing) without bar in place.

To Demagnetize

Remove cross bar, turn heater on and pass bearing several times between the two upright columns, without contacting columns.

Warning

Do not operate the RECO Bearing Heater if you have a heart pacemaker.

The strong magnetic field emitted by the heater rnay affect operation of such devices,

Mechanical watches should NOT be worn while operating the RECO Bearing Heater.

Digital watches, however, will not be harmed by the magnetic field.
